DeepMind Scholarships at Makerere University
Six scholarships for the MSc in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science track, open across Uganda, East Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa.
About the 2022/23 call
DeepMind and Makerere University renewed their collaboration to fund six scholarships in machine learning for the 2022/23 academic year. The call built on the four scholarships awarded in 2021/22.
The call, updated on 19 March 2022, supported students joining the MSc in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science track at Makerere University.
This is an archived scholarship call. The application deadline was 30 June 2022 and applications for this round are closed.
Eligible programme
Applicants had to apply for Makerere University’s MSc in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science track.
Proof of a programme application was required when applying for the scholarship. A scholarship could only be awarded after the applicant had secured admission to the programme.
What the scholarship covered
- full tuition fees;
- a stipend for living expenses;
- a laptop;
- medical insurance;
- travel to Makerere University for international students; and
- artificial intelligence conference participation and mentorship.
Eligibility
The call was open to citizens of Uganda, citizens of other East African countries and international students from Sub-Saharan African countries.
Applications
The graduate admission deadline was 27 May 2022, followed by the scholarship deadline on 30 June 2022. The original scholarship application form (opens in a new tab) is retained for reference but no longer accepts applications for this round.
